- Divine Mercy Senior National School first Student Council was established in 2016. Following a student election nineteen students from all classes were elected to the council. The council meets weekly with Mr Breen, Mr Lynch and Mr. Walters keeps parents updated with their work on the school app.
The role of the council is to:
• Provide an opportunity for pupils to voice their opinions and offer suggestions in relation to many aspects of school life.
• Discuss issues relevant to the school and encourage and promote initiatives from the pupils.
• Provide an opportunity to raise funds for the school.
We will be looking forward to electing Student Council Members for 2021 - 2022!
The council set up a suggestion jar in the library for students to offer suggestions and ideas in relation to school life.
The council organised a "cinema in the hall" fundraiser and raised €1300 for the school. The council decided to purchase new sports gear for the school with the money raised.
The student council visited the office of the children's ombudsman man to discuss issues relating to children's rights.
Student council Elections took place Every October and the Student Committee are selected by voting within each class. Ms. Halpin then presents each School Council member with an official School Council badge.
